Hachen Solar Park: Sustainable Redevelopment of a Former Mining Site

Commissioned by Süwag, Aton Projects is building the Hachen Solar Park in Lennestadt, Germany, as a full-EPC partner. A total of 13,986 solar panels with a capacity of 8.8 MWp are being installed on the former sedimentation basin of the closed Grube Meggen mine. Through a 20-year power purchase agreement, the park will supply renewable electricity to the GEA Group’s German production sites. This gives the former mining site a sustainable new purpose, with a focus on nature and biodiversity.
